I think the 5e fighter needs a list of class specific powers just like the 3e spell lists. Give him a pool of abilities to pick from, and this is where it really needs to depart from 4e....class powers MUST do different things, and not have the same end result of just combat mechanics. And i wonder, if the generic 5e fighter will be flexible enough to "reskin" as an Archer, Barbarian, Cavalier, etc, without having to make a new class.  Maybe all you would need is a "kit" (hello 2e) that has class abilities bundled with it.</blockquote>
