Hot Pursuit Question

I'm really interested in picking up the pdf of Hot Pursuit from Adamant Entertainment, but I heard the border really detracts from the printability. Any chance this has been fixed yet?

Can you be more specific? I had no trouble printing it out on a b/w HP LaserJet, but I'm also aware not everyone owns or has access to a laser printer.

I heard in one of the reviews (which I can't reference right now), that it had a border which wasted ink on every page. I was hoping the pdf version now scrapped that for a more print friendly version.

It's not really a lot of border compared to many other PDFs out there. It's sort of a faded red that looks like the page is aging. It printed out as a faded grayscale sort of thing.

It's less to print than the printer friendly version of [grabbing an example at random] 13 starship devices from Ronin Arts. Another example, Element of Magic Mythic Earth has some dark brown borders that are certainly more ink intensive than Hot Pursuit.

Now I haven't tried printing any of those on anything but a b/w laser printer, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Anyhow, hope that helps somewhat. :)

Yup. That's very helpful. Still not sure I'll buy it since it still sounds like an ink waster though. I suppose I'm just spoiled by the amazing printer friendly versions that RPGObjects puts out.

Hot Pursuit is also available in hard copy now too - I saw it at my FLGS recently. It's a softcover book.

It really is a great set of rules, so I'd hate for you to miss out. :)

Let's not go libeling EOM here. It uses layers to allow you to turn on and off individual elements, allowing you to print plain text only, two different styles of border, and more. With the same PDF you can print out a stripped down, no art, no border, text only document, and a fully illustrated, full-color bordered document suitible for framing.

Take it easy chief, I wasn't trying to libel them or anyone here. :)

I was just comparing borders "as is" to give him an idea of what the border in Hot Pursuit looks like compared to some others (which I totally picked at random). EoM Mythic Earth is another product I'd gladly recommend to anyone.

Layers: I didn't know that about this particular product. Kudos to EN Publishing for using the full range of functionality of Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.

I'll leave it for others who don't have the ability to use Acrobat 7 on their systems to comment otherwise.

Don't worry. I wasn't going to accuse you of libel. *grin* And I think we have a Adobe 5.0 version that includes both a screen and print version of the pdf in a zip file.

(Edit: I was half-right. We have a version uploaded to the store, but we don't have it on sale because we didn't want to have two listings for the same product. I'm going to go edit the ME page now to say, if you can't run adobe 7, let me know, and we'll send you the adobe 5 version as a complimentary copy.)

I do agree that the border for Hot Pursuit is kind of a waste. It would've been better to simply have blank space, or maybe a simple line, rather than a red gradient. I like the book's content, but not its graphic design, and it's a shame because it is a book you want to have handy for reference during a game session.
