Cork board is great for that. You can even make curves. I buy mine at the dollar store in sheets of 12"x12".

You should watch a lot of videos from Black Magic Craft. He uses those extensively and makes some of the best home grown sets I've ever seen.

I have one of those expensive foam cutting kits - I've got the table and all the various tools. My advice is to save your money. It's nice for the occasional project, but I should have saved my money and just stuck with a cheap wire foam cutter - it can do 95% of what I need done.Just wondering if anyone has advice on what hot wire foam cutter they like (or really don't). I really would like to cut some pretty good sized circles, and I doubt I can get a great cut with a blade. 2 inch thick XPS foam is what I'm hoping to cut for this.
