Do you want an old-school module like this?

An old dream of mine for 3e has been to create a classic "old school" module right out of the history books of the late 70's and early 80's.

You know, a loose plot, some wilderness exploration and a dungeon crawl. (well, in this case, a few smaller dungeon crawls, some more important to the story than others). All the maps done blue-on-white in classic hexmaps and grid style, sample characters in the back of the module, the works.

Well, I've started putting this sucker together, with some help. Now, I'm probably going to put the final product up on RPGnow for $3.00 or so.

The question is - is it worth my time? Would you be at all interested in such a nostalgic module?

(edit - changed the cover pic)

Truly old school would be pink exterior with a black and white picture. And of course the font has to look like a typewriter printed it.

EDIT
Are you talking about an old school 8 page module or one of the epic 16 page ones?

Epic 32-page variety. Like the B-series modules.

And yes, the final cover art will be done in black, white and blue.

I agree that G1 is a classic. But I couldn't in good conscience sell a module at 8 pages.

Thus the 32-page epic length we are aiming for. But of course, that includes sample characters in the back and everything. And will include the maps too... so actually shorter than 32 pages.

Honestly, if "Ye Olde School Module" receives any amount of positive press, that sounds like a great idea.

"Ye Olde School Campaign" - three 8-10 page old-school styled modules linked together.

Frankly, if I wanted some old school nostalgia I'd just bring out some of my old stuff, like G1 ;-)

Can't really envision myself paying anything for it, unless it had some fun twist to it.

Yeah Im disinclined to purchase an old school module, as Ive access to so many of the originals (in ESD or in their original glory). Also, I kinda like the new fancy art and the larger size of the newer modules. I do have fond memories of the old school stuff that Ive used in the 14 years Ive been playing AD&D/D&D though!

So-called 'Old School' modules are usually easy enough to generate...heck, I can use Jamis Buck's generator for 2/3rds of it without any work. Most of the old modules were pretty sparse, and there big deal was introducing new items and monsters that would go on to become standards.

I can't really see paying money for anything like that, in all honesty. I can pretty much do that myself within in an hour, really.
