How Big can a bow go?

Slightly off-topic, but...

What ever happened to ballistas??? They took them out of the 3.5 DMG. (Along with all the baots and fun war machines and stuff.)
I am playing a merchant who very much wants to travel with a ballista gaurding his wagon. Would it jsut be a Huge heavy crossbow? In a turret? What about re-loading? It pretty much sucks that they took it out of 3.5, so would I just have to use the old 3.0 description for it?

(p.s. I don't like how you can't add any modifiers to attack with a ballista according to the 3.0 DMG. I think if they make it like that, that you should only need a touch attack with something THAT big to do damage. There's gotta be a compromise...)

No, they didn't. It's on pg.100.

Do they still have muskets, futuristic weapons, damage charts for different sized weapons, and costs and info on like boats and ships and stuff in the 3.5 DMG?

>> btw, if they did, you shouldn't need to go to giants for a huge bow, you should just be able to "special-order" one in a town capible of filling such an order.

EDIT: found the sizing chart for weapons. still looking for futuristic weapons and for boats and ships...

Monkey Grip, 3d6.. aka "I ripped it off a ballista and now I fire with it" of course you could use a monkey gripped GreatBow from Complete Warrior for something otherwise insane
3d8 I think, but Im probably wrong

way to back up your argument with some proof ;)

"Read Monkey Grip again" and "Read Greatbow again" were implied. The first one would have given you the answer Staffan just supplied.
