How big can a spellbook get?

One thing to remember based on the technological level of most campaigns is that the pages of a spellbook would be much heavier, and much, much thicker than some piece of cheap printing paper. So while a spellbook could really be anysize, there are limits to what lies in the realms of the practicle.

It's not a terrible difference (ie, twice as thick or so). Paper was never a quarter-centimeter thick Those are 'thin sheets of wood'

Seriously, the Vedas were all in four books, the Bible in one. They were not made out of modern paper, but modern paper is inferior anyway.

There's no reason why a spellbook couldn't stretch across multiple volumes.

Or, I think a neat application of the extradimensional principle would be to create a slim volume that contains more pages than it possibly could.

I personally like the idea of a crystalball that, when held, can summon an image of the page you want to read
