How do you envision monk implement use?

"I shake my ancient nunchucks at your face as i kick your teeth in"

The question is what does a monk hold while in battle?

How about

"The monk focusses his inner reserve into a single blow with the nunchuk, smacking the enemy across the face... that reserve becomes a powerful blast of force, knocking the enemy prone and tossing him across the room."

Who said implements never have to touch an enemy... hard... in the face...?

Are you referring to Ki Focuses?

My Assassin's Ki Focus is a necklace he made. It has tremendous personal significance, and it is something he meditates on during quiet moments. He may not draw his power directly from it, but it has absorbed some of his power and now imbues him with strength when he needs it.

Since a Ki Focus can be almost anything, and does not need to be wielded (like a holy symbol) it is totally up to your imagination.

I think for a monk a cool implement would be a scrap of ancient parchment bound in a tiny book. Maybe it is instruction on meditation, or on how chi flows though the body. I also like a symbol of their office, like if they had a tabbard or something that was given as part of their rank. An ancient weapon would be cool, too (and if I remember correctly, they can use those as implements) and a great place to mine some more flavor.

If it's a focus, you hit them. If it's a weapon, you hit them with it. Duh.

Other valid answers are hadouken and shoryuken. Or they punch the earth so hard shockwaves throw the opponent down. Or they punch the air and release a compressed blast against their target. Or any other crazy (fun) anime/comic book/wuxia/video game nonsense.

Really, it's a good sign that wizards are starting to think outside the box a bit with flavor. Implement users aren't 'spell casters' at all times. I can make a Elf Monk/Seeker who shoots things point blank if I want, and the mechanics work. Heck, there may even be a feat to do something special in that case.

EDIT: Come on, Flipguarder! Your friggin' avatar is one of if not the the best example of a guy who will kick your ass without even using the sword he's got in the history of video games. Citan could totally be stated up this way: the sword helps him focus but it dosn't need to even draw it to put you on the floor. Even if you're in a giant robot and he's not.

Yeah, that first comment was entierly in jest. I'm actually more interested in the possibilities of what a monk can do with his hands since he does not need both for his attacks.

EDIT Also My friend is playing Xenogears for the first time ever and he is quite upset at how good Citan is compared to the rest of the characters. He hasn't even gotten to solaris yet.

I imagine a Half-orc Monk picking up and throwing an enemy to play bowling with Strike the Avalanche, a Halfling Monk sliding between the enemy's legs, holding his ankles and kicking him in the rear end for Dragon's Tail, or a Kenku Monk pecking enemies in the eye with Twilight Touch. The possibilities are endless really.
