How do you feed your pet mind flayer?

Breaks Games
In the game I'm playing in, we have acquired a new friend... A friendly Mind Flayer. Called Glass.

We'd originally contacted him to buy some information and he agreed to show us to the place we needed to go. During all this, his home city was destroyed... rendering him homeless. That's pretty harsh and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. He's a very courteous thing and quite useful to have around. I want to keep him. :D

Anyway, he's feeling a little peckish and I'm wondering how I can feed him without upsetting the rest of the party... which might be a problem:

An Alienist - Chaotic Good (with neutral tendancies) - Me!
A Diviner - Neutral Good.
Cleric of Pelor - Neutral Good.
Paladin of Raziel - Lawful Good (Duh!).

Currently, the Paladin has specific dispensation from his god to bend the usual rules of conduct.

What I know of his dietry requirements - summoned food tastes nasty, eating dead things is gross.

Any thoughts?

Bonus question: Would you want a pet mind flayer?

"Don't ask, don't tell" policy. I'm quite sure Glass is able to 'forage' his / her / its own food. As long as the party members don't know about it, it's not gonna hurt, right?

Like some goblins or kobolds or whatnot, that you would've killed anyway. Or does it have to be sentient? Humans eat animal brains too. Cow or horsebrain, maybe?

Good idea... Although knowing our GM, 'Don't ask, don't tell' will land us in more trouble than it's worth! :)

Think they have to be sentient. Certainly noticed it thinks the diviner has the best looking brain... Either that or it's found a facial flaw to stare at.

Now that's a fantastic idea... Make it a proper pet. :)

I was more hinting at the 'Followers' aspect of Leadership, not the 'Cohort' aspect, but that would be a good idea, too, of course. ;)

Bye
Thanee
