How do you feel about nudity in RPG books?

How do you feel about nudity in RPG books? Not titillating nudity but nudity that is meant to evoke or capture a certain idea.

If there is nudity in the book then its going to make me less likely to want the book in my collection. Such a book would be one I could not use to try and bring friends into the hobby, it would be one I would be far less likely I can put it on my shelf where my kids will read it, and, if I did have such a book, it would be nearly certain to make my wife start asking me why I have all these books in the first place. A family friendly hobby should have family friendly art.

Keep it off the cover.

Beyond that, provided it's appropriate, I don't really care.

(It should probably go without saying that I'm referring to nudity in itself. Obviously, not all nude images are created equal, and so there are some nude images I would object to seeing in an RPG book.)

I'm not particularly bothered by nudity in my gaming material, depending on the context. I'm not looking to be titillated by my gaming materials. The internet has plenty of free resources available for that, I don't need to buy them in my gaming stuff. But if it's a reasonable fit for the context or content, then I'm OK with nudity.

I'm not against nudity, if it fits the topic discussed. I mean, it's not that our children are only subject to chaste images outside the hobby.

That said, it's difficult to imagine topics which would be enhanced by nudity, besides very specific ones :P

If I was advising a publisher, I'd say "don't do it"

It's going to raise issues and turn away more buyers who want to avoid it than attract buyers who want to see the nudity (given how easy it is to get and somebody's going to display the nude art from the product online anyway).

From the perspective of me, buying a book and eventually reading my way to page 69 where there's a half-nekkid nymph, it wouldn't bother me. I don't make my book buying decisions on art content generally (that's separate from art style or art quality).

It would depend why it's there, but it seems a risk. Nobody's going to buy an RPG just because it has nudity in it, but some might avoid one because of it.
