That statement about it not being able to be an attack that "automatically" converts to subdual damage, that's talking about things like an unarmed attack, a whip, and the such.

Otherwise, like I said, some low CR creatures are invincible, such as the Imp.

Wrong. Unarmed attacks, etc, do not automatically convert to subdual. There is no conversion with them. They are already subdual dealing attacks. Thus, your interpretation is completely unsound.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. CDG says you need a melee weapon, a bow, or a crossbow. It is possible they didn't mean to eliminate the other types of weapons, but by the rules, you can't do it. Heck, you can't even CDG with a pistol.

Still, I'd say a plurality of DMs would allow it.
