This thread needs a humor tag on it, because I think the subject has been beaten to death.
If it were a horse, there'd be a smoking set of horseshoes where the dead horse was ridden so hard into the ground that even the hooves are gone.
I'm pretty sure we all know the official pronunciation used by WOTC, and while I agree with it, I know that there are others that don't. I'll use the official "drow as in cow" in any discussion, except when the GM insists that it is pronounced otherwise in his game world. It is, after all, his perogative since it's his world.
Fortunately, I haven't had an issue with it in my games, beyond some good-natured teasing with players that pronounce it... differently. I guess if it started getting on my nerves, I'd invent the "droe" race in my campaign, which would be to the drow as the scro are to orcs, and be done with it. Fortunately, the banter over pronunciation never got beyond the teasing stage.
Well, that was longer winded than I had hoped for, but given the nature of the poll, if one insists on wasting time going back over what I believe is considered by WOTC to be a settled issue, I may as well make them sit through my own diatribe in response.
With Regards,
Flynn
