I pronounce it "ransyoor" How should it be pronounced?

Well, it's French, and they tend to ignore half the letters in a word anyways...so it probably just sounds like "r"

rapier is an english word, so you shouldn't have any problems pronouncing it. The french equivalent is "rapière", which is pronounced "rah-pee-air".

And how do you pronounce 'khopesh' (sp)? I think the kh is supposed to be a hard r like the ch in 'loch'. Anyone here speak Arabic?
