How Do You Put A Moving Pic In Your Sig?

Villano

First Post
My main system is a WebTV, however, sometimes I do have access to someone else's computer. Recently, I was surfing around and clipped a few little video game characters that I like and stored them in the computer.

I've seen other posters with these types of pix in their sigs and was wondering how I could do that.

And bear in mind that I own a WebTV. This means that I'm totally computer illiterate and any explanation will need to be decidedly non-technical. :)

If this sounds a little too condescending, I apologise. I'm not good at simple.

Anyways, images come in different types. you get bitmaps, JPEGs, and GIFs as the main ones.

Bitmaps are primarily for people who use paint (although some Paint users use other types, and some non-paint users use bitmaps). They are massive.
JPEGs are used for photos and other pictures like them. Nuff said.
GIFs are like special 256-colour bitmaps. They are much smaller, and you can use them to string lots of images into an animation.

So, you need an animated GIF. You probably don't have the skills to make one (I sure as hell can't), so you should look around on the internet. Insert them into your sig with the [img]Url here[/img] tags.

If you e-mail me the image you like to
email.gif
I can store it on the internet for you so you can use it in your signature.

Thanks, both of you, for your help. I thought that maybe you could attach it like in an e-mail, but I guess not.

Anyway, I'll send you the pic shortly. I've got it narrowed down to 3 and I want to finalize.

You are aware that you could just attach it to a post in this thread and link it from there, right?

Hmm...probably not, but now you know.

Quick question:

When I first got the idea of putting a gif in my sig, I clicked on a few that I liked a stored them in my documents. They stored as gifs and play when I click on them.

However, since I've been trying to narrow down my choices, I've spotted a few others I've liked, but, when I click on them, they only store as bitmap. Is there a reason for this? Granted, one animation was pretty long (a super combo attack), but the other two I liked are just the characters standing and moving just a little.

Or do the bitmaps play like a gif when put in a sig?

Also, while I have your collective ears, if I put the gif in this thread, how do I then link it to my sig?

before oyu make up your mind to do it, please read this thread- http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59349 where it is explained that they eat bandwidth are may very well be slowing the boards :)

mind oyu, there is no rule against them, but they aren't imho the best for the boards.

i would also ask that if oyu do choose to use one that oyu are careful to use it only once per thread :)

thanks for oyur consideration.

I think you should put a claymore in your signature.
