How do you store maps?

I have tons of maps from campaign settings and boxed sets. All of them FOLDED. when you store maps or posters folded they start to have scratches in the corners.
I want to know how you store your maps (if you can show me a pick the better). I don't want my maps to stay between the cover and the pages of the book (it's uncomfortable when you read the book), or folded in the boxes.

given that you are talking about published maps that start their life folded, my answer might not fit.

I have a bamboo scroll case that I keep all my game maps that I receive (generally these are GM created props).

The effect is cool because I have a lot of maps in a cool container.

I laminated all my maps (40+) with between 3 and 1.5 mil I believe. Now I can write on them with sharpie or dry erase. (Dry erase over sharpie to remove sharpie, caution, does not apply to wet erase on vinyl).
Local Teacher Supply store (Lakeshore learning store) where I lived at the time (orlando) had super cheap DIY laminating, measured by linear foot, so it didn't break the bank. A few where done at office stores, those were pricey, but had thicker mil.
Currently I have them individually rolled with 5 rubber bands securing each, however, I'm looking at a lay-flat storage solution that was recommended to me. I'm looking at either:
