Level Up (A5E) How is a main-gauche supposed to work?

Quoting from the LUA5E text on page 315, "Double weapons use the statistics for whichever weapon is used to attack and are considered to have the dual-wielding and parrying properties." It does d8 slashing + Strength modifier damage "main-hand" with the axe side and d6 piercing damage "off-hand" as a bonus action per two-weapon fighting rules.

I don't think the versatile property should apply for the Urgosh, but if I was to allow this as DM, it would mean that you forgo the off-hand attacks, which is not a worthwhile trade-off.

I don’t think versatile and dual-wielding conflict as written since double weapons are a special case of two-handed dual-wielded weapons, but it’s a reasonable way to rule it.
