Quoting from the LUA5E text on page 315, "Double weapons use the statistics for whichever weapon is used to attack and are considered to have the dual-wielding and parrying properties." It does d8 slashing + Strength modifier damage "main-hand" with the axe side and d6 piercing damage "off-hand" as a bonus action per two-weapon fighting rules.
I don't think the versatile property should apply for the Urgosh, but if I was to allow this as DM, it would mean that you forgo the off-hand attacks, which is not a worthwhile trade-off.
