How is this Druid feat?

I'm thinking of running something like this past my DM. Not sure I'd take it, but I'd sure like the option. It's very likely I'm not the first to think of this, but I haven't seen anything, so let me know if it's already around somewhere.

Feat:

Direct Wildshape (Wild)
Benefit: As a standard action, a Druid can wildshape directly from one animal form to another without first changing back to his natural form. Doing so counts as an addition use of Wildshape for the day. However, the Druid does not regain hit points as if having rested for a day. Only when in his original form does the Druid gain hit point through Wildshape.

This feat works in conjunction with Fast Wildshape, so that wildshaping from one form directly to another would be a move equivalent action if the Druid also has the Fast Wildshape feat.

So what do you think, besides the stupid feat name? I was thinking of making Fast Wildshape a prerequisite, but I'm not sure it's necessary. And eliminated getting hit points when doing it for fear it might be seen as too good. But maybe not.

Druids can't do this already? If not, every campaign that I've played in where someone was a druid got a huge bonus! Honestly though, I've never seen someone raise this issue about switching from one form to another.

Our understanding of the rule is that no, they can't do this. At least in 3.0 which is what we play. But if that's not the case, someone please tell me!

Sounds unnecessary. They can already do this. When they wild shape into a new form, there's no requirement that they be in their original form.
