How long before you tire of a thread here?

I have no numeric limit. A thread will hold my interest as long as I find it interesting. The ones that tend to meander around a bit, rather than being laser focused, seem to hold my interests longer for that reason.

I gave up eight or nine years ago on trying to get someone to see sense if they don't seem to be making sense, not just here but everywhere. The effort required on my part is never worth the rare rewards when someone goes, "Wait... I think I see your point now." Saves a lot of frustration and time. As such, I guess my limit is probably about 10 posts unless it's actually a post about content creation and the participants are brainstorming and implementing ideas. Sadly, most of the people here who loved to actually collaborate on making things or sharing the things that they had made don't post here any longer.

If the content keeps moving and evolving, there’s no limit if I’m interested.

If the participants keep repeating the same dumb argument loop, you couldn’t pay me enough to keep watching a thread.

It usually only takes about 6-8 pages before the same old battle lines are drawn and the same old players find the same old loop to repeat until the heat death of the universe.

It depends on the topic being discussed on the thread and who is participating in the discussion. If it is a topic that catches and holds onto my interest/attention, I'll gladly do my best to follow it and add in my two cents to it every now and then. One of the things that will make me follow it is when I come across a post/reply from another participant who raises a valid point about the topic and/or presents a thoughtful opinion that I can readily understand and agree with.

What makes me lose interest in a thread is when certain participants entrench themselves and become somewhat close-minded. There are also the endless debate loops. You can only resurrect your points so many times before you bore someone to a figurative death.
