I know that when it was first released, a lot of people were running WLD campaigns. Well, I may be late to the party, but I've finally arrived -- I bought the WLD last night. After having read most of the book and several reviews, I see a looming danger of "dungeon burnout" in my future. How long did your WLD campaign last?

Mine lasted about a year. But it was a solo so we moved through it a little faster then other people as she was also higher level. We also played for 12-16 hours a week. It was a lot of fun!! :D

We're not done yet (so I didn't vote), but my group is on session number 62 or 63 of the Dungeon. We play for three hours once a week, minus a few breaks for vacation and holidays, so it's been over a year now.

I have no idea how far along we are, since I'm just a player and not the DM. If Hussar, our DM, is listening maybe he'll tell you. :)

Same here. We play for about 4 hours a week. Been playing for a year and 3 months so far and figure we have about that long to go.

Since we play with Fantasy Grounds I don't have to do any mapping... I drop in the electronic versions of the maps and just remove the Fog of War stuff as they go. It works great!

Here on ENWorld ... three rooms. I think everyone was already realizing that we were in for a whole lot of "OK, I search the room before opening the next door."

Uh oh. I don't like the way that this poll is shaping up. Perhaps I'll follow up with a "Am I fool for buying the WLD?" poll ;)

WLD is a challenge to DM. It can get tedious and bore players. The only way I got through it was I removed the assumption that almost everything in there was to be killed. It opened a lot of role playing and politics in the place. Basically my player went around and united the many different factions and had them swear alliegence to the celestrials. Then with them united she lead them against the remaining devils and demons and other truely evil things. And from reading the epic dungeon, that was not what the writers were expecting. :D

My one and only foray inthe the WLD (an online game run via Yahogroups) folded rather quickly. I'll never play it again, or run it.

IMHO, it is a terrible adventure, endless rooms and coorridors and doors and corridors and doors and rooms and corridors and rooms and doors and corridors..... You get the idea.

BTW, I believe the dungeon tag is for the magazine?

Yeah. That was a big problem for me. "we check the door", "You see a hallway."

I got really sick of the first dungeon really quick, and after a month of play, I'm pretty sure my players were tiring of it, too. I worked out a way for the gate with demons coming out of it to transport them out. They're now happily marching around the Outlands, and I'm about to run them through Fires of Dis.

However, WLD is not a waste of money. From what I've seen, some of the later dungeons aren't as bad. Also, it does give you a crapload of dungeons you can adapt for later use. I'll probably revisit it and use the dungeons later. Also, Fantasy Grounds will probably make this easier to do. Its a pain to map these ginormous maps out otherwise.
