This is a companion piece to another poll. In levels, how long does your average D&D 3.x campaign last before it ends (whether it's a planned ending, TPK ending, or drifted off and never went anwhere ending)?

My last one ended at about 17th level. The one before that ended at 45th. Of my last 8 campaigns I've run I think 4 went epic, 3 ended in the 16-20, and one ended around 9.

In games I've played we have not been so lucky.

Lately I have to say they manage to make about 5th level. Unfortunately I've been running shorter campaigns for the last couple of years.

Probably in th 10-12 mark, but levels aren't really a good measure of our campaigns, which tend to be long and relatively slow-paced when it comes to advancement. For example I have a Dragonlance campaign that had been running for 8 years before it got put on the back-burner at 11th level.

I usually start at 3rd in my tabletop games. The last three ended at 15, 17 and 27th. The first two ended in TPKs and the last finished what it set out to do.

The 17th level one hold the record for the shortest time between resurrection and death I have ever seen, about 3/4 of a round.

Hmm, I've run two campaigns for 3.x so far and one ran 1.5 years, the other is two and going strong. The first reached level 15 before folding, the new one is currently at 15 and on the cusp of 16. Its been a great ride so far and I'm looking forward to the conclusion at just into epic levels.

My next campaign is going to be a savage tide campaign modified to Iron Kingdoms. That should be great with all of its steampowered goodness!
