How long does Lent last?

the date moved around because the lunar calendar doesn't match our solar orbit.
there is also the delay in letting the jewish community know when it started that lead to the discrepancy in the jewish calenders

Angcuru-
What didn't you understand about not putting down other religions? That's why the topic is usually forbidden here. People start flaming. Are you just trying to shut down a thread?

I have my own strong opinions about various religions. And I keep them to myself. Do you know why? It's polite, that's why!

I hoped people wouldn't continue the argument, but I didn't get here in time to assuage any hot emotions.

Ah well, I guess I shouldn't known better than to think everyone would be civil. Alas, it was nice to learn a few new things about the interesting history of religious holidays. Too bad it had to end so soon. Though this thread will most likely be soon closed by a moderator, just to go on record, please don't go on the record in such cases, thanks. Sheesh. You got that right.

Sorry to the mods for tossing in my opinion here. Just trying to get in a civil note to show how threads like these could go if people didn't feel compelled to get them closed. Actually, no, with the inserted opinion, it would be just as Not-a-Good-Idea (TM) as anyone else's opinion that you might find offensive.

So I expressed my opinion on the subject of religion which this thread revolves around, and all you have to offer in reply is non-constructive criticism? I expected no less.

I'm not trying to get this thread closed, just offering an opinon. Edit: deleted said opinion. True, the best answer for others would have been not responding in the thread so that the mods could clear out the post in question.

I'm not trying to get this thread closed, just offering an opinon. I'm just saying that it is my belief that taking literally the words of a book is not a good idea. Using its text as a group of teachings and suggestions on how to be a good and moral person is admirable, though. I just don't think that believing every story is a good idea.

Nobody asked your opinion on religion. We're just discussing the timing of various holidays. We were discussing trivia. Actual opinions on real-world religion or politics are strictly forbidden around here. You had nothing to contribute to the actual discussion, and it appears you still don't.

If you don't like the ENworld discussion rules, try http://www.nutkinland.com

You can talk about anything you want there. Here, we try to keep it civil.
