DMing since 1981. I.e. 24 years. That gives me a tentative claim on "grognard" status, but doesn't say jack about my skills. I do consider myself more learned now than 10 years ago - at that point I was actually in the middle of a short break from gaming. I would say that access to the Internet has aided my skills immensely. I'm not going to rate myself. Plenty of folks enjoy my games and that's good enough. I figure I've still got lots of room for improvement. :D

Gming 15 plus, but not constantly. Ironicly, my most DMing experience is with Mentzer era D&D :uhoh:

Started in 1989.

I'm ok with 3.5 DMing, but people probably think I igonre to many rules. Guess I spent too much time running/playing Live Action Vampire. :heh:

GMing most of the time since about '81, but had the not-uncommon long layoff in the mid to late '90s. Since 3e I've actually played more than DM'ed, and though I've now 12 session of my campaign under my belt I still feel rusty and can judge myself as only fair at the moment.

1981, shortly after I read the red box (4th ed?) D&D.

Usually, I'm pretty good. Certaintely better than the average GM I've played with. I'm not the best I've ever seen, though. Mechanics tend to be my primary strength, Role-playing a bit behind that, then poetics/puzzles. I'm weaker in world-building and storylining. I find that my puzzle dungeons are typically the ones that are most favored, whether the puzzle is simple or complex. I find one of the secrets is to not force the PCs to solve the puzzle- merely to give them advanatges if they do.

How long?

Let's see, I ran my first D&D game in November 1974. That means its been... Good lord! 31 years!!!

And yes, I do need glasses now. Its been a lot of fun, and I manage to learn something in every session so it's all good.

Now, it's time for my nap. ;)

Cheers!

Since '79.

Wasn't really any good at it until about 85/86. By then I had gone to college and seen 3 or 4 other GMs and thier styles, which helped mine out immensly.

26 years.

Like everyone else, I'm above average. :D

This poll explains in every important way possible why I love hanging out at ENWorld. The collected gaming, er, wisdom to be found here is oft-breath-taking.

Here's to the next 26!

I've been DMing for so long I can't remember when I started!

I'm pretty sure it was '81, so 24 years. I would say that I am "good", but there is plenty of room for improvement.
