How Magical ARE Magical Beasts?

The point I'm shooting for is: nothing in a magic-filled fantasy world is inherently, logically more magical than anything else. There's ascription, and there's inborn magic, and then there's things like totally magic-immune golems (which are magical themselves)... and it gets more convoluted from there. Therefore, seeing the term "Magical Beast" as anything other than a purely mechanical construction on the part of the game designers will eventually lead to brain hemorrhage and death if you think about it too much.

You are overanalysing, stop before you hurt yourself. There are natural animals and those who have actually be created throug magical intervention. A horse is a horse of course, of course, but a unicorn is a magical beast...
