Couple of points
1) Im pretty sure precision based damage only applies to the first arrow with many shot.

That is true with Manyshot, but not with GREATER Manyshot.

Just a shame you can't imbue the poison spell onto an arrow!

True, but if you care to change it up a bit... You could be a Spell Sword and use Throwing weapons. Channel spells through Daggers (for example) and throw them.

Off topic, but in a campaign we play in a spell storing dagger was found. My sorcerer charged it up with scorching ray, fighter later lobs it at an air elemental for 1d4+3 + 3*(4d6) damage. Ouchie!
