I don't know what everyone means by 'not enough'. I have enough 4 sets of dice (ten each) and extra d6's so that I can cast spells with my high level characters and do damage. Total, maybe 50 or 60 dice. What do you need more for?

Granted, I _want_ more, but that's a different story entirely.

Need = obsessive/compulsive hoarding disorder

weird how dice are coveted, this year at Gen Con I shall slay all comers and take their dice as it is my winners right!

The Seraph of Earth and Stone

only a few

I admit I like dice, although I only own three sets--red marblized, unique transculent amber, and generic. I want at least to get a metal set, a set of the unique frosted dice, and maybe a pound or two of dice for variety.

For a next poll the title should be, "where do you store your dice?" I store mine in a cloth drawstring bag (non-Crown Royal). I want to get a leather or silk bag. :cool:

edit: Forgot the D6's: I'd like a a few different set of pipped d6 (character stats and fireball, of course).

So you're telling me that everyone on the boards has some sort of mental disorder?

Well, can't _dispute_ that... :uhoh: :p

I love the Chessex dice, just getting out my collection and sorting them into respective sets brings me unrivaled joy. Obsessive compulsive? Probably. I have about 75, many of them pipped d6's. I always feel tempted to by the Pound o' Dice at Chessex.com, but I feel like that's cheating. I need an emotional bond with my dice, I need to be able to say, "Oh yeah, those I bought for my friend as a Christmas present, but I got them in the mail and decided to keep the pretty shinies and give him a nice, home-made card instead." With the big bag of assorted dice, they lose some sentimental value. Also, I can understand, say... 100-200 dice collection, and I can see someone (like me, yes) putting on display some of the prettier ones on your desk or something, but what the heck do you do with 1000+ dice? Unless you're hosting a gaming convention in your living room and providing the dice too, you can't possibly have a use for all those stinkin' dice.

I figure I have a few hundred, although I have to admit I never counted. Lots of d6's though (I played a lot of Shadowrun).

This thread got me thinking about dice, and their evolution, and I was wondering how many people remember the old high impact dice. I particular the d4s spring to mind..... man I swear they had a razor edge on them and all you had to do is lose one in the carpet (especially in old shag carpets) and sooner or later someone would find out just how effective caltrops could be. I can also remember rubbing a crayon over one side of a d20 to fill in the numbers so the high side had different coloured numbers. :D Oh how times have changed. Kids today have it so easy. :)

One of the players in my group has a set of the metal dice and while I gotta admit they are pretty cool...... you gotta watch where you leave them. A week in my buddies car in January left them pretty much unusable for a bit, at least without gloves on. ;)

You could just about see the air chiiling around them, it gave a whole new meaning to frosted dice.....

Hm, I want to try out some stone dice. I want dice that really weigh something.

23.

That is, twenty-three in active use. There are at least 10 more that have been retired, and dwell somewhere in the depths of some drawer. Two more have found their "final resting place" in the fish-pond behind my apartment.

I haven't been infected by the dice-buying-virus as yet.
