Not counting UAs, just official published material. Anybody know?

(For that matter how many races are there?)

Too many? (j/k) ;)

Honestly, I think there are about 60 or more races (including subraces individually), and for subclasses at this point we should be well over 100 I would think.

I don't know if anyone outside of WotC knows the answer to this.

There are an indeterminate amount of custom AL-legal sublasses that may or may not exist, as part of an Extra Life Charity fundraiser.

For races if you negate dupes, dupes and put separated races back in as subraces (aka Sea Elf counts as Elf).

  • 4 Common
  • 5 Uncommon
  • 25 Exotic
  • 18 Setting Specific

Conversely, if you don’t collapse the subraces and count variants as different options (Orc of Exandria vs Volo’s Orc vs MotM Orc, for example - which is what DNDBeyond now does) then there are 72 race options, with 6 more coming in Spelljammer.

Subclasses?
I thought there were only races added that way?
