How much do you suppose it costs to develop and maintain DDI?

That is indeed what we have been told. No way to test it, as far as I can see.

Easy to test if anyone wants to spend some money for a 1 month subscription. Already have a forum account, then subscribe from a different computer/IP or perhaps just subscribe with a different user name, and use your pre-existant forum account to see if your new DDI account shows up as a member of the forum Insider group if you haven't formally done anything with the forums.

I'm almost certain the combined forum/Insider login process doubles you up, even if you never visit the forums. Time for someone to test this out and report back.

You mean that if you make an account for ddi it makes a similar account on the boards and includes you in the count? If so, no, I checked with some of my players who have ddi accounts and no wotc account.
