How often to characters get a full attack in your campaign?

Unsurprisingly we use RAW, like most people here seem to. Works well enough, even if it doesn't come up that frequently due to players moving, opponents moving, opponents dying, etc.

One of the reasons I love the scout is that it drastically moves away from the typical slugfest of full attacks. Watching them deny opponents full attacks round after round is quite entertaining.

Jeez, I just had a cool thought: a gestalt party with one side preset as scout. That would make for some nifty combats.

Raw

RAW.

OP kind of implies that it slows down the game, but I don't find that true (and trust me, there is enough that slows down combat that I wouldn't be shy about saying.)

It takes a full round action to full attack. So you can do a swift action, a number of free actions, but nothing else. 5' step is fine.

Surprise round, if there is one, is only a standard action, so you can't full attack.

Nice and easy.

I've seen different gaming groups do this in completely different ways.
Huh. I haven't seen any group do it differently than the RAW. I've "heard" (in online forums like this) of such groups, but never actually seen one.

We use RAW too. Not sure how it slows down the game.

The numerous attacks at high level are getting tedious though. Maybe this is what you are referring too? I look forward to less attack and damage rolls in 4e.

I never felt the need to change anything about full attacks (even though the TWF lasher in my players' group is starting to take a lot of time to finish his turn - I KNEW, I shouldn't have allowed that 3.0 prestige class...).

RAW for me too.

If it's slowing down the game, maybe try and get those players to roll attack and damage at the same time - with multiple attacks this kind of thing really does make a difference.

The only time not by RAW is in the occasionally heavily house ruled game- typically oneshots or minicampaigns -where lots of things are changed for various setting/flavor/feel reasons. In the current campaign (with me as DM) and in the last (with a different DM) and in the last few before that.

RAW here as well.

Never had a problem with it. Jeez, I'd obliterate even more PC's if I allowed monsters to get their full attack on the first round.
