However, as a lot of people on these boards who I respect tell me 30 is a very distinguished age, I guess I better believe them.

Speaking of which, I recall Ryan Dancey saying (in fact, I think it was in an interview he did with Eric Noah) that part of WotC's aim with 3rd ed. was to attract new players and expand the market/hobby. From all the posts and votes, it seems that that goal was never achieved. Most people seem to have been gamers from way back, who engaged in the hobby at school when it first became really popular.

Hmm... how to make it popular for high school kids again...

What I find interesting is the drop-off at 36, it is steep. I am sure there are a lot of reasons for it, mostly the generation that visits the boards just have not reach that age yet but it could also mean people stop playing after 35! Mmmmmmm.
