How old is our gaming population of EN World?

I've been wasting time on D&D for over half of my life.

hah! i'm 33 and have been gaming since i was 11. that's 2/3 of my life!

(i don't know if that's something worth bragging about... )

btw, i'm guessing the lone 60+ is good ol' Col Pladoh himself...

*Ugh* I should have voted in this the first time around. Because then I would have been in that prestigious 26-30 demographic. But now I'm in that curmudgeony 31-39 demographic.

Well, when this poll came out, I was about 2 years yonger than I am now. Not that it mattered to the poll because my age still started with a 3.

Are ya sure, Joe? Or do you just recognize more of the game's complexities now than you did in the past? I just don't see it as more complicated than some past editions.

I started just when the red book came out. It was significantly less complicated than it is now, especially from a newbie perspective. I only had about 45 pages of rules, now I've got hundreds.

We know that it seems more complicated than it is, but we're role-playing gaming geeks. We've been doing this for a long time and understand what the "point" of the game is and how to play it. Even when we get a new game we go, "how do they do X in it?" while a newbie doesn't even know X can be done and has to have the basic X concept, not just the mechanic, explained.

When we do the more comprehensive one next summer we'll be able to see a pronounced shift, I'd imagine. Unless this site begins attracting a much younger crowd. That might happen as younger players who might feel more comfortable only frequenting the WotC site start to seek advice further afield as d20 and OGL products become viewed as closer to the mainstream, perhaps.

Methinks there are actually two different questions that ought to be asked. One is "How old are you?" The other is "How long have you been playng RPGs?".
