Yeah, how long have you played is another one, or better yet, what year did you start?

But then this poll is really outdated - when I first responded to it, I was two years younger... I'm now moved up a category but i can't change my vote...

Make the bands too narrow, and you start having a difficult time reading the thing, as you'll tend to see some of the bands will be underpopulated just by random scatter in the sample.

There are worse problems. If you have the raw data, you can always smooth it later. If you collect only aggregated data, there is no way to disaggregate it.

Quite. I would like to start a new poll (for the New Year, perhaps).

And perhasp the best thing (if that thread threatens to survive as long as this one) would be to ask "What years were you born?"

But for some reason there is a feeling that we ought to go on collecting confounded data in this ill-structured poll, and put off any new poll for six months.

I think agback has a valid point there. A vote for A skew the accuracy of the poll when a year or so later it may be more accurate to vote B. Doing it by year sounds to have more long-term accuracy, to me.

Well, when this poll came out, I was about 2 years yonger than I am now. Not that it mattered to the poll because my age still started with a 3.

Wow, I wouldn't have picked your age from your oh-so-un-PC sig block - I'd have been guessing high "1s" or low "2s"! But then, I appear to be in that same age bracket as you, and a fine looking woman is a fine looking woman no matter what the age of the observer ;-) Keep up the good work!
