Holy Moly! I was one of the ten 14-15 year olds on the board back then... (I was 15)... now that I'm 18, I'm slowly moving into the majority!

Sure, plenty of us old guys around.

I have a theory about the big drop-off in the 40+ range. I started gaming back aournd 1978 (OMG! :) ) and lived about 15 miles from Lake Geneva Wisconsin. Anybody more than a few years older than me was probably too old to be likely to pick it up, and I don't know if the geography is an issue. I'm 38 now, so if somebody is, say, 45 now they probably already had picked their hobby of choice when D&D first came out.

Possible?

well, 30 isn't looking so scary after all... looks like i have a lot of gamers to keep me company. ;)

take it from an old guy. it is easy to taint the young with visions of dragons and heroes and babes in chainmail bikinis.

even at a ripe old age you will find plenty of younger gamers to carry you around on their shoulders and build up your ego. :D

Staring at it, staring at it....

What comes next? After the arthritis and such?...

Welcome to Senior Gaming ;)

Since I am 45, nearly 46, I can say that :D

Okay, your dice rolling relfexes slow down a bit, you get annoyed with the tiny print in game books, and have to explain to folks while you still play "a kids game", but there are many benefits.

First up, you look like a guru to anyone you game with and can claim the title of Gaming Philosopher (this works especially well if you are familiar with at least three different rpg systems).

Next, people ask you what it was like to game back in the Old Days. Tell 'em stories! Pull a Grandpa Simpson on 'em! They'll eat it up!

Then, of course, no one worries if you drink during your games. It's just your magic potion, isn't it?

Finally, you can revel in the fact that you are enjoying a great game with a lot of social interaction; equally you know your dreams of heroism have never died.

I would never deny the snazzy of that ;)

Wombat, you defy my age speculations. How old were you when you started RPGs (and was it the dreaded white box D&D or something else)?
