Wombat, you defy my age speculations. How old were you when you started RPGs (and was it the dreaded white box D&D or something else)?

I was 16. It was Labor Day Weekend 1975. Three little beige books

I got into rpgs to get away from miniatures battles, which always devolved into arguments over line of sight, movement, morale and suchlike, as well as WINNERS and LOSERS.

Luckily I was very persuasive in convincing folks that there was something beyond American Civil War and Zulu War battles that didn't involve CB radios

It was the mighty blue book for me. So spiffy! :) I was about 13.

My Dad had a CB at the height of the craze. I never did understand why...

First up, you look like a guru to anyone you game with and can claim the title of Gaming Philosopher (this works especially well if you are familiar with at least three different rpg systems).

Can't pull that one off, unfortunately. The GM is a few years, not many, younger than me, and his wife not much older than me. And one of the fellows I game with was my DM back in 1e days. The only young'un in our group, though, is a better role-player than I. :\ 'Cept for his tendency to walk away from the table a crucial moments. He almost got married to a pig-faced warrior's widow once, and nearly became chummy in a Deliverance-style way with a rangy Rogue on a another occasion. :p

As of about a month ago, I'm sufficiently old to qualify to run for President of the US :D

I've been gaming since 1977, which makes 27 years :D
