Fracture lines and cleavage planes are the same thing, at least when I use the terms. I forgot that the planes exist because of how the structure of the crystal lattices lined up.

Which was my point. You had inadvertently given the impression that they were caused by imperfections, and that gems lacking them might be rare (rather than impossible).
