How to crush LotR and SW Trilogies!

DL is so derivative of LotR (because D&D is so derivative of LotR) that I can't conceive of a way to do it without looking like a total LotR rip-off to the uninitiated (critics, non-D&D players, etc.).

Anyway, I think that would make for an awesome series of movies. Can you imagine seeing Raistlin in the third movie (Dragons of Spring Dawning) after he dons the black robes?

I can only dream.. *sigh*
You and I both. I love Dragonlance, second only to my love for the Forgotten Realms. It would totally kick if the original Dragonlance Trilogy got the silver screen treatment.

DL and FR are both nice settings and the original DL Trilogy would make for a very nice movie that I would certainly do see. I'm not sure about pulling any specific series from the FR line off-hand, but I haven't read probably half of the FR books out there so my opinion might be a little lacking.

That said, I would prefer to see R.A. Salvatore's Demon Wars Saga made into a movie before I saw Drizzt (and I do rather enjoy the Drizzt novels. I'd pay just to see how Jarlaxle would be outfitted on the big screen).

But, even more then the Demon Wars Saga, I'd love to see The Song of Ice and Fire on the big screen, though 3 movies wouldn't even begin to be able to cover the books.

Would I see a DL movie - no, and yet another fantasy trilogy would definitely make people think LotR rip off, especially it's got elves, dwarves, etc in it.

With SW I gave up completely after the Phantom Menace, because of lots of things, but in two words to sum up what was wrong: Jar-Jar. (Actually the Ewoks nearly caused me to abandon SW).

Want to really get DnD fans into the movie theatres and crush LotR and SW box office sales? I firmly believe they should make the original Dragonlance Trilogy into three movies.

Littering and...littering and....littering and....Smokin' the reefer.

As CGI gets more realistic and efficient I would like to see Forgotten Realms or even Dragonlance done this way. Special effects and scenery could do "fantasy" justice.

I'd counter argue with the Sci-Fi channel's Earthsea.
