How To Do a Link When You Don't Know vB Code

You simply write out the domain name thusly: www.immortalshandbook.com (for example).

Do not affix an 'http://' to it, vB automatically appends an 'http://' and so your link would end up with an extra 'http://' if you typed one in. So you would get http://www.immortalshandbook.com in the above case. And clicking on that would lead you to something else entirely. In the case of Netscape it would lead you to a Netscape Search page with loads of links to things with 'http://' in them. :\ Not what you were looking for.

So remember, just the basic URL with no 'http://' added.

Update: And the dang thing did it without appending an extraneous 'http://' to the 'erroneous' URL. Here I'm trying to provide an object lesson for posters, and vBulletin has to go mess things up. :grump:

Yeah, it looks like the code is smart enough to leave a full URL alone. I've been pasting in complete URLs forever and have never had a problem with it. But don't let that discourage you (or anyone else) from posting tips here in meta, I've learned a lot from threads in this forum. It's one of my "visit every day" forums.
