How to improve Dragonborn Senses Feat?

I have to agree, Dragonborn Senses is one of the weaker feats, looking at how infrequently it will come into play. Perhaps a Dragonborn Rogue or Ranger could make some use of it, but even then, I think Alertness or Skill Focus Perception would have a wider application.
Any dragonborn interested in being stealthy will probably be interested, as dim light will offer concealment against many creatures. Stealthy people hate having to carry a light source.

Also, if the dragonborn is the only party member with normal vision, this feat is way more valuable. If he takes it, the party only needs to advertise their presence in total darkness, rather than anything other than bright light.

The sunrods definitely don't make low-light vision useless. I personally don't always wanta shining beacon above me when I'm trying to move stealthily and set up or execute an ambush. Low-light vision makes Low-light situations become a boon for your character, granting him a noticeable advantage against a good number of his enemies (those who don't have low-light vision). Sunrods damage utilizing light as another possible source of advantage for the party.

Nor can you hold a Heavy shield or two weapons with a Sunrod needing a free hand to be held in on top of the lack of Stealth. It takes a Warforged to "hold" a Sunrod or Lantern without actually holding one.

Edit: Or two-hander as well?

Only one person in the party needs to light one. Usually, there will be someone who can spare a minor action to do it. Then you can drop it if you want, again, it's only a minor action to pick it up.

I see some use for low-light vision for a stealthy first-striker. But once combat starts, lighting should not be an issue.

If you wanted to give lighting more weight, you would have to change the lighting rules a bit to shrink light radii and give shadowy illumination beyond bright, much like 3.x.

Or you could use a torch. Or a lantern. Or have the wizard use his at-will light cantrip...

Plus, if you want to boost Perception, then Alertness or Skill Focus: Perception won't stack with Dragonborn Senses.

And I just realized that alertness and skill focus perception don't stack with each other!

Well, its basically what it states. Its the equivalent of being one level higher defence-wise. Nothing to sneeze at, let me tell you.
