"Release the 4e SRD and take input from everyone"

What's the disadvantage with that?
I though about it when they announced 4E.
They are going to release free srd anyway, so it won't stop people from buying the books.

Terrible feedback mechanism which would be full of incoherent noise. That's what's wrong.

So that's what happened to 3.5 huh? Terrible feedback and lots of incoherent noise. ;)

But you are right of course, although it would be intersting to have all the players playtesting the game. Curious at least.

You think they released the 3.5e SRD and said, "hey everyone, what do you think?", then changed the rules based on that feedback?

Really?

No, I think 3.5 was the product of all that terrible feedback and lots of incoherent noise. I didn't say that it was good or bad though.

Perhaps you mean feedback about 3.0e went into 3.5e? That would be true, but wouldn't really be relevant to 4e.
