How to project Power Point while gaming?

If you want to run multiple monitors off of a single card I'd recommend you look at Matrox (www.matrox.com).

If you want to get a projector figure out if you're primarily going to use it for data or video and what sort of ambient lighting you're going to have. The cheapest new projector I can think of is an Infocus X1 which you can pick up at your local Best Buy for $999. It's 800x600 (svga) and 1100 lumens. Your normal desktop is probably 1024x768 or higher so you'll need to drop your resolution. If you're going to have the lights on you'll probably want the lumens rating to be 2000+, but I use an old CRT projector that's closer to 300 lumens and you can still watch TV with a couple of lights on. If you have access to somebody selling business projectors look at Sanyo. Almost anyone can sell them, they have a product at just about any price point.

You'll probably be looking at LCD vs. DLP technology. LCD is going to be cheaper and brighter on average, so I'd recommend that for Powerpoint. DLP is going to look less digital (less pixel structure) and have better blacks so it'd be better for movies.

Anyways....you're probably looking at spending around $2000-$3000 for a decent projector that can do 1024x768(xga) at around 2000 lumens. Check out www.projectorcentral.com for exact models.

I need to get a projector myself. What do you guys recommend? I need something pretty good, that can project big images in a moderately bright room.

Do you need to be able to take it with you on trips? There are some tiny projectors out there that give pretty good pictures...

If mobility isn't the biggest issue, then things get a little easier. My preference is to go with known names - we use Sony projectors where I work, you'll proably want a unit that puts out 1500-2000 lumens (which will help a lot if you're need to project in a room where outside light competes with the projector).

If you have specifics about the room size (if it's likely to be a single room) that would help.

No, it's going to travel with me. I'll be using it to project powerpoint slides at seminars. As a result, it can't be too bulky, and needs decent lumens. You guys are giving me an idea of what to look for; thank you!

I'll probably try to buy one used, and save some money.

Infocus seems to be the rage currently: Decent resolution and luminosity, and not too bad on price.

Infocus X1 DLP

Not too shabby, though I've had no personal experience.
