How To Tell If A User Is Gone

'Tis the season, if I recall correctly. Spring is always super busy for ol's Snarf.

Not quite sure about this, but yes, I needed a break (two of them) because it is always better to be thought a fool than to make comments on the internet and remove all doubt.

But this is one of the many reasons why enworld is an oasis of sanity that is much appreciated given (gestures around). And I prefer that I contribute positively to that oasis than bring my baggage into it.

In the end, we might pass around gifs of Daniel Plainview screaming I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE but it's helpful to remember that Daniel Plainview is not the good guy.*

Moving to the topic of the thread, @Morrus (and in reply to @Gradine ) - I don't see warning points now either, so that permission issue remains unresolved.

*Nor is Patrick Bateman, Gordon Gekko, Jordan Belfort, Tony Soprano, etc. etc. etc.

Looks like this was fixed over the weekend. Strikethroughs are now present for anyone on a "vacation". Thanks Morrus.
Speaking of which, when a user is "on vacation", their profile can't be accessed, at least not by us mere mortals.

It might just be my unquenchable curiosity, but when I see that someone's gone, I kind of want to know what sort of train wreck happened. But if the profile's gone, that can be inconvenient to find out.

I guess on some level it's none of my business, so if y'all think having banned profiles being inaccessible is right, that's perfectly fair. But I also figure it might just be an oversight, and if I don't ask it definitely won't change.

You can, in fact, still search for a banned user's posts, which may give you some insight into what they did that got themselves banned (and, hopefully, understand what behavior to avoid). Under search, spell out their name in the Member field. You won't be able to select a particular poster to completion match so you'll have to type it all out. But once you do, assuming no typos, when you click Search, you'll still find their posts.
