Lots of obsidian in volcanic areas. Pumice, too.
Have the area before his lair filled with shards of obsidian and sharpened stalagmites/tites. They will act as caltrops and force balance checks for the PC's but do nothing to him. It will also add injury to injury when he snatches, breaths, and then flings someone into the ceiling. I think that he can do that in one round, too, especially with Haste.
A pit filled with water or Solid Fog that has pumice powdered over it could be interesting. Again, obsidian and sharp rocks at the bottom.
What does the dragon sleep on? If he has his servants keep his lair filled with material like grasses, branches, or other flamables, he could breath and set the whole place on fire. Use his wind gust ability next round, and your going to have a room full of hot embers flowing everywhere. No vision, hard to breath, continual damage perhaps.
With the skills and spells a dragon has, he will see through a scouting mission by ANY goblin. Have the dragon Dominate him and give false info.
