How useful is Force of Personality?

A quick search throug the SRD:

Glitterdust
Slow
Banishment
Bestow Curse
Dismissal
Hallucinatory Terrain
Mage's Disjunction (Mordenkainen's)
Majic Jar
Misdirection
Mislead
Some effects of Prismatic Wall, Spary, or Sphere

I got bored after that point. I'm sure there are others in other sourcebooks. So they are out there.

Hmmm, that's more than I thought. Thanks.

I house ruled Force of Personality replaces wisdom on ALL will saves. I don't think it breaks anything. The Sorcerers (and their kin) get a nice bonus to Will Saves, Paladins get a double boost to Will saves. Clerics, Druids, and Monks are still happy.

Harm is also a Will save and not so much mind-affecting.

I actually don't understand why Force of Personality is limited that way, while other (similar) feats are not, like the one that allows you to use Int (?) on Reflex saves (Insightful Reflexes or something).

My Paladin (19 inherent charisma) with a cloak of charisma +6, armour with soulfire special ability (BoED - immunity to 'death attacks', ability drains), Iron Will, and Force of Personality... is nigh invincible against most effects, including Harm.

Just giving an example of the usefulness of the feat under certain circumstances. It has been very helpful to my character.

Yeah, but is that really a result of the feat? ^^
With a high Charisma (and other options to boost that charisma), absolutely. I threw in the other (Soulfire armor) to address the other issues that were brought up.

+7 from adjusted Charisma of 25
+7 Paladin Bonus to Saves
+2 Iron Will
-----------
+16 to most Will saves before factoring in level, spells, or other buffs. Not bad for a warrior class.

To determine the usefulness of the feat compare it to iron will. Iron will gives you a +2 to your will saves. So if your cha mod is not higher than +2, then the feat is weaker than iron will. And if its higher, its only against a subset of will saves.

For the houserule where the feat just allows cha instead of wisdom for will saves, your cha score has to be 6 points highter than your wisdom score to get more usefullness than iron will.

The question is do most of those sorcs, pallys, and bards outthere fit this category at some point in their career. If so, the houserule is probably overpowered.
