How useful is Force of Personality?

The question is do most of those sorcs, pallys, and bards outthere fit this category at some point in their career. If so, the houserule is probably overpowered.

That logic is flawed. There is a cost involved to get that high Charisma. Iron Will has no such cost.

Of course, the feat is only useful for characters, that already have a high incentive to raise their Charisma, but that's pretty much the point of the feat.

Still, I don't see why you can use your Int for Reflex saves (no limit there), and when you want to use your Cha for Will saves you have it limited to only half or so of the situations when you make a Will save.

Harm is also a Will save and not so much mind-affecting.

I actually don't understand why Force of Personality is limited that way, while other (similar) feats are not, like the one that allows you to use Int (?) on Reflex saves (Insightful Reflexes or something).

Partly for flavor reasons, I think, but also because it could lead to the "Charisma for everything" syndrome. Dex is still useful for a lot of things even if your Int is higher, but if Cha works for Will, then Wis is just going to be used for Spot and Listen.

For the characters I mentioned not really. It helps there primary abilities so much they would gladly raise their charisma anyway.

Well, a feat that lets you use your Int modifier for Reflex saves against mind-affecting spells would suck.

I was thinking of taking the feat for my binder, who already has Iron Will and a better charisma than wisdom, but then I realised I'll be immune to mind effecting spells eventually anyway.

Ok, not until 19th level, but it would really irritate me to have a feat that was no use whatsoever even for a few levels.

But there are a surprising number of will saves which are not mind affecting. I had a real surprise when I checked.
