How was X-Men 3 bad?

Spiderman 3 was so terrible it was almost briefly enjoyable, but upon reflection, I felt dirty for enjoying it.

X-Men 3 was just awful for the many reasons posted in this thread. I am not a comics fan so I don't care about following comics continuity or anything, but you really can't tell a compelling story with that many characters and that many plot lines all at once.

Also, sometimes I want to shake someone when I see how badly the movies treat physics. Sure, Wolverine has managed to regenerate tissue damage, so you can slash him and a few seconds later he'll be fine. This power apparently extends to sucking blood out of his clothes, and keeping his pants invulnerable. And when Jean Gray is disintegrating huge swaths of the landscape into a fine mist, Wolverine can just ignore it.

The Wolverine movie is better than X-3, because only 2/3 of it were terrible. They actually had some decent character scenes before they made the plot stupid. (Minorest of mini-spoilers:
a bad guy uses a computer to control another bad guy like a video game character, complete with typing in the command, "Decapitate."

Ugh.

Your powers of hyperbole are astounding, sir.

This article sums up 10 that are worse...and it doesn't even scratch the surface....

The 10 Worst Comic Book Movies of All Time! | Pulp Secret - Comics News and Reviews

DS
Come on now , give me some credit. I am not one to throw around worst or best without thinking about it. Actually E had a better top 15 poll, no ranking, but does include the x-men 3 movie.

When i say top 3, I am thinking the top 3 movies I actually stompached all the way through and was old enough to comprehend. This means movies I've seen after highschool (1996). I don't even put the batman movies in my top 3, batman 5 was campy stupidity i can watch again because of how bad it is.

Xmen 3 doesn't realize its bad, and it falls in the spiderman the musical ...oh i mean spiderman 3.. catagory. The third movie I'd toss in there would be the fantastic 4s.

I actually liked daredevil and new enough to avoid elektra. League of Extordinary Heroes is the in my top 10 worst , but i really didn't peg it as a comic book movie.

Heh, I'd probably peg Ghost Rider as one of the worst, if not the worst comic book movie I've ever seen. What an awful film that was.

It was just... flat. I can remember the first and second film pretty well, in terms of storyline and characters - if I think about the third, I only get pictures - Alcatraz, flying bridge, super telekinesis. That's it.

It was a pretty film with nice effects, but very throwaway in terms of characters and storyline. Plus the cure thing just didn't had the impact of the plot of the 2nd film, which felt more "epic".

Cheers, LT.

Come to think of it, one could easily say that the problems with X3 are almost identical to the problems of Spider-Man 3.

100% true right there. However both movies are still watchable. It's just sad that the "suits" decided to force so many changes ruining both movies from what could have been some awesome fare.

as another non-comic book reader, I thought that X3 wasn't atrociously bad... but it seemed 'crowded'... too many plots going on at once, none handled particularly well. It had some visually neat stuff going on (I'm a sucker for special FX), but half the plot had me going 'Huh?'....

Ugh.

That sounds like a Marvel character name
Arcade
.

My problem with X3 was that it felt rushed, which it was and shows it. They dropped the whole thing about Kane being Porf. X step brother, some good conflict there. Rogue's character development was all wrong. Jean's power and character development was totally missed used. And Callisto with out the morlocks was wrong. Basically using the wrong mutants for the story.
