How would you describe the effect of a violet fungus attack?

We'll be playing Savage Tide tomorrow and the party will encounter their first violet fungus. The tentacle touches and - if you fail the save - it drains 1d4 STR and 1d4 CON.
How would you describe this? Sucking blood? Withering the limb?
