Reading through another thread about the state of the RPG industry, I started to wonder a bit.

Would you like to see Dragon/DUngeon produced in a PDF only format as an option? Would you want them to provide PDFs at all?

Let me know your thoughts on this. Without knowing much about the magazine distribution/subscription/print business it seems to me that they could increase their subscriber base, decrease printing costs and come out ahead if they provided a combination of offerings.

EDIT: Note that options 2 and 3 should say "I prefer.."

Personally, I think it would be cool to purchase adventures within Dungeon separately, so each adventure would cost maybe like 2$ or something. Probably not a viable option, as cool as it would be.

As for the cost for the entire issue, it would depend on whether it had ads in it. If so, it should add like at most 1$ for the .pdf version as well as the print. If not, then it could go up to like half the cost of the print version and be fine for me. Personally, I dislike magazines and would prefer the .pdf version. [was thinking of getting the issues with Age of Worms, but I'm going to wait for the HC for that exact reason].

I'm not a reader of either Dungeon or Dragon, so my comment is not specific to those magazines, but I think more RPG magazines should be available as .pdf editions, either in addition to or as replacement for dead-tree editions.

The excellent Modern Dispatches and the amazing Stellar Reaches offer outstanding examples of what can be done with .pdf periodicals.

For Dragon, I want a print copy only. It is reference material and reading material to me.

For Dungeon, I would much prefer a PDF copy. I do far too much with my adventures, and a text-friendly PDF version of Dungeon would make it all possible. Further, all the side articles (the non-adventure pieces) would be great as a colelction, and a clean PDF would let me make my own compliations of each.

My thoughts exactly. I would pay a bit more for Dungeon to get both versions.

I believe representation from Pazio has stated in the past that their publishing deal for Dungeon and Dragon only allows them to sell the PDFs once an issue is out of print.

I would love to buy PDF versions of Dungeon, but at a better price than what Paizo has them listed on their web-site ($5 vs $7 for print copies). For $3, I can see buying a lot of PDFs.
