Hugo award nominees announced

We're absolutely thrilled that 2 stories from THE NEW SPACE OPERA, edited by Gardner Dozois and Jonathan Strahan, are up for the Hugo Award!

The stories are "Who's Afraid of Wolf 359?" by Ken Macleod and "Glory" by Greg Egan. Our sincere congratulations to both authors!

Johan Scalzi is nominated for best fan author - the man has published five novels since 2005! I'm told that this nomination is supposed to be for blog work. Again, I'm sorry - the man has proven himself to be of professional caliber, and should not be competing in the fan category. The fact that it is a slightly different medium doesn't make this a reasonable nomination, IMHO.

I dunno, he's been a blogger for, what, 10 years? But a successful novelist for less than a third of that? And he's still very active on his blog.

To me it's not terribly unreasonable.

I gotta mention that Halting State by Charles Stross specifically mentions D&D 4th Edition.
