Hulk 2 rumors

I saw this on Commingsoon.net

Scooper 'Invisible Girl' wrote in with the following about Hulk 2. Perhaps Bana meant they'll start shooting next year, instead of that the sequel will be released then?

Just got back from a week in Vegas. Amazing stuff. I come back with some cool movie news for you - well, at least it was cool a week ago, and knowing my luck, someone has already scooped me by the time I get my lousy dial-up connection back in order.I had the pleasure of meeting (read : forced myself on them) Jean Smart and Eric Bana last week (Monday) in the front street entrance of New York, New York. They had both done a 'reshoot' on a movie they were doing there about Poker. Eric was a nice guy. He shook hands. Took a photo with a young Chinese boy. Poor Jean had to 'introduce herself' to the small gathering crowd, because, well, no one knew her. I knew her from "Garen State". Anyway, I asked Eric when Hulk 2 is coming and he said "next year". I kept pushing and pushing, asking if he's definitely doing it, and is Jennifer Connelly?. "Yes, and No" he replied. He said he's next doing a Steven Spielberg film about the Olympics. Jean said she's also doing a small role in that film.

I liked it too, although I think the last third kinda peetered off significantly.

What did disappoint me, though--my favorite Hulk stories were always when he went toe to toe with someone else equally big and strong (and often green.) I'd love to see a Hulk sequel that featured Abomination...

So Hulk 2 - Wrestlemania?

personally I liked Hulk and think they made a good choice of pitching him against the military and even Brian Banner-Absorbing Man.

The problem with the hulk is that his villains were all kind of hookey (what does that mean anyway?)
ergo you either get another behemoth (which turns it into a movie about two behemoths bodyslamming each other and causing property damage) or one of the other stupid villains that the hulk faced.

I could go for the Leader as the main villain (with more screen time) and abomination as his 'muscle'. The Leader as terrorist has resonance with contemporary threats and becomes a brain vs brain match up (bewtween the Leader and Banner) rather than bawn vs brawn slugfest. Not that slugfests are made but for a movie I think story development means screen time for Banner

SOme other interesting villains could be the two sociopaths Hammer and Anvil, the assasin Speedfreak or even the U-foes (which with their unstable powers could give some comic relief!)

The problem with that is that you put the Hulk's only good villains in one movie. After that, what have you got? The Glob? Bi-Beast? :)

With the Leader, you could include comic book, sci-fi superweapons like lasers or armored battlesuits or robots. Then you could save the Abomination for another film.

Unfortunately, you would probably have to retool the Leader's origin. Having him be a janitor would be too much like Absorbing Dad from the first film.

I'm honestly not sure this series could really go on beyond one sequel. Spider-Man and Batman have enough interesting opponents for 50 movies. Unless the producers could poach some Thor or Avengers villains, you're left with some sorry pickings. Maybe Gremlin/Titanium Man, but that's about it.

I like the U-Foes idea, since a team might make for better opponents, but I'm not sure who would have those rights (were they Fantastic Four villains? Avengers?). What about aliens (like the Toad Men)? An alien invasion could be interesting.

The real question is "Will Ang Lee Direct again?"
God, I hope not. The biggest problem with the Hulk was all those goofy cutscreens, fades, etc... Lee was making an art film and forgot that his audience was comic book fans and kids who wanted to see an action movie...

Hey, that's their mistake for expecting an action movie.
