D&D 5E Human racial bonus in 5E

It has been a while since I was involved in the playtest. One thing I never really liked was
the human racial bonus: One attribute score increases by 2 and all others by 1.
Has this been changed? Have some of the designers said something about this?

Yes they said it's changing but no announcement of replacement.

I believe it will be +1 to all or a Feat. The +1 to all is Standard, the Feat is an option the DM may or may not allow. My DM has already decided against.

OT1H, as strong as feats are in 5e, I'd find a race being granted one at 1st level worrisome. OTOH, +1 to 6 stats instead of to 2 stats roughly translates to 2 feats (based on the latter choices of stat increase or feat while leveling).

Still, if given the option, I'd probably take the feat (key word: probably).

I don't know, I really need to see how the final humans will fare in the game. To the date the uber humans are still the major reason I'm in the fence on the edition, a single +1 or +2 bonus is already too much for my tastes, I wish they find a workable alternative between extra feat or being genetically superior, a simple floating +1 should have been enough, point buy values are already too high as they are.

No. If you can choose were to apply a bonus that is always more effective than increasing everything equally. So +1 to all is worse than +6 free.

In the latest playtest package, the +2 has already been removed., leaving "just" +1 to all stats.

At some point it was mentioned (by Mike Mearls?) that an unnamed alternative would be offered.

I would like to see a +1 to any two ability scores, free skill or tool proficiency, an extra language, and an extra save proficiency.

It puts them on par with most other races and makes them versatile, doesn't involve feats or other alternate rules.

I thought the replacement was the extra feat that a human can get at 1st lvl

This is a case of the children's game telephone I think.

Someone on twitter suggested to Mearls he offer a feat instead. Mearls said that was an interesting thought. Others then went on to discuss the ramifications of such a potential rule. And now we have people saying Mearls said that was the rule.

As far as I know, there is no rule about replacing anything with a feat at first level and nobody from WOTC has confirmed it either, at least not in a public way. All we've gotten is that it will be changed to something else with the final game, and we have no hints as to what that something else will be.
