D&D 5E (2024) Human Resourceful Adjustment or Alternative

Hello all,

I run a public game that often has a rotating cast of players. For ease, everybody at the beginning of every session has Heroic Inspiration.

Since long rests are rare during sessions, a few players brought up the point that this substantially weakens the Resourceful trait for humans which states:

"Resourceful. You gain Heroic Inspiration whenever you finish a Long Rest."

I still want to keep giving all players Heroic Inspiration at the start of the game, so I'm wondering if you have any ideas on how to adjust Resourceful to make it more useful or possibly provide some other alternative.

I was thinking that maybe I could allow Humans the ability to have 2 Inspiration Points at a time, but I'm not sure if that's too generous.

Ideas?

I don’t think there’s any issue with multiple inspiration points available per character at any one time. Tales of the Valiant has a concept of luck points which function similarly to inspiration. Their system is that if you gain too many point (i.e. the player is hoarding or forgetting them), they’ll reset once too many are accumulated and the player starts over with 1d4 points. Bit of a different system dealing with maybe a different problem but I think it shows that multiple inspiration points are not really a problem.

I ran a convention game last week and gave everyone inspiration and gave the humans two of them. They players enjoyed have the reroll and I let them spend it on the others PCs as well. It was a convention so not sure if that matters with the spending them.
