Human - the strong race

Well, I think that's how the other races were designed.

____ are like humans, but _____ and _____.

Usually one thing they are better at, one thing worse.

I think the real solution is to simply just not have any ability modifiers for races. That way you can do anything you want.

In the real world humans would be the Con race. What we lack in aggessiveness and natural weaponry we more than make up for with stamina. A man can run for days, a feat few creatures our size are capable of.

Humans are obviously a +Int race, I mean, has any other race achieved the feats of the mind as we have? Con? Humans really aren't all that durable.

In Tolkien, humans arguably are the 'strong' race. Dwarves and hobbits have Con nailed down, the various types of elves excel in Dex, Int, or Wis, and hobbits have Dex. Humans are specifically called out as 'doubty' on several occasions; it's Aragorn and Boromir who force their way through the snow at Caradhras.

Of course, half-orcs are not a PC race in Middle-Earth! So it all evens out.

I agree that real-world humans are notable both for Int and Con. The Int isn't as interesting, though, as we're the only sapient species on earth that we know of. Physically speaking, we are the best distance runners in the animal kingdom.

I like humans as "the diverse race." Every other race has a "hat" that defines them, but the humans' hat is that they can wear any hat.
